As the global digital transformation accelerates, innovations in network architecture evolution, data privacy protection, and the commercialization of emerging technologies are urgently needed. Against this backdrop, the 13th International Conference on Communications and Broadband Networking (ICCBN 2025) officially opened in Chengdu on November 28, 2025. Co-hosted by IEEE, Southwest Jiaotong University, and Xihua University, the conference attracted nearly one hundred experts, scholars, researchers, and industry leaders to share and discuss the latest innovations and development trends in communications and broadband networking.
随着全球数字化转型的加速,网络架构演进、数据隐私保护以及新兴技术商业化等领域的创新正亟待突破。在这一背景下,第十三届通信和宽带网络国际会议(The 13th International Conference on Communications and Broadband Networking, ICCBN 2025)于11月28日在成都正式开幕。本次会议由IEEE、西南交通大学和西华大学联合主办,吸引了近百位专家学者、研究人员和行业领袖共同分享和探讨通信与宽带网络领域的最新创新成果与发展趋势。
Opening Ceremony & Keynote Speeches
The opening ceremony was chaired by Prof. Xianhua Niu, General Chair of the conference and Dean of the School of Computer and Software Engineering at Xihua University. Prof. Lianshan Yan, Dean of the School of Information Science and Technology at Southwest Jiaotong University, delivered a speech on behalf of the conference organizer, welcoming all experts and scholars and thanking the staff for their hard work. Prof. Yan noted that the field of communications and broadband networking plays a key role in industries such as 5G/6G, IoT, intelligent connectivity, and network security, and that this conference will promote in-depth academic dialogue and interdisciplinary cooperation, drive technological innovation, and explore new opportunities for future networks. Prof. Zheng Ma, General Chair of the conference and Professor at Southwest Jiaotong University, delivered a speech on behalf of the organizing committee, emphasizing that this conference provides an important platform for the global academic community to promote technological breakthroughs and exchange of ideas in the field of communications, and to drive the integrated innovation of communications and broadband networking technologies.
大会开幕式由大会主席、西华大学计算机与软件工程学院院长牛宪华教授主持。西南交通大学信息科学与技术学院院长闫连山教授代表大会主办方致辞,欢迎各位专家学者的到来,并感谢大会工作人员的辛勤付出。闫教授表示,通信和宽带网络领域在5G/6G、物联网、智能连接和网络安全等行业中发挥关键作用,本次会议将促进学术界深度对话与跨学科合作,推动技术创新,探索未来网络新机遇。大会主席、西南交通大学马征教授代表大会组委会致辞,强调本次大会为全球学术界提供了重要平台,将促进通信领域的技术突破和思想碰撞,推动通信与宽带网络技术的融合创新。

The academic report session was chaired by Prof. Zhicheng Dong, Program Chair from Tibet University. Prof. Xiaohu Tang (IEEE Fellow, Southwest Jiaotong University), Prof. Raymond W. Yeung (IEEE Fellow, Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Fellow, The Chinese University of Hong Kong), Prof. Yingchang Liang (IEEE Fellow, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China), Prof. Meixia Tao (IEEE Fellow, Shanghai Jiao Tong University), and Prof. Li Chen (Sun Yat-sen University) delivered wonderful keynote speeches. The reports focused on the transformation of communications and broadband networking from theory to practice, current challenges, and application prospects under multi-domain use, providing profound academic insights and forward-looking guidance for the industry.
学术报告环节,由西藏大学、程序委员会主席董志诚教授主持,西南交通大学唐小虎教授(IEEE Fellow)、香港中文大学杨伟豪教授(IEEE Fellow、香港工程师学会院士)、电子科技大学梁应敞教授(IEEE Fellow)、上海交通大学陶梅霞教授(IEEE Fellow)、中山大学陈立教授先后作精彩的主旨报告。报告内容聚焦于通信和宽带网络从理论到实践的转化路径、当下所面临的挑战以及多领域使用下的应用前景等方向,为行业提供了深刻的学术启示与前瞻指引。

Prof. Xiaohu Tang gave a keynote speech titled "ZCZ Signal Design: from Theory to Applications," introducing the basic concepts and core design methods of ZCZ signals, and focusing on their practical applications in channel estimation, multiple access communications, integrated sensing and communication, and other fields. Prof. Raymond W. Yeung focused on the strict theoretical characterization of conditional mutual independence for discrete random variables, which belongs to the basic theoretical research of probability theory and information theory. Prof. Yingchang Liang discussed the information-theoretic foundations of symbiotic radios (SR), such as capacity regions and cooperative modulation design, and demonstrated their application potential in scenarios such as ambient IoT. Prof. Meixia Tao focused on the new paradigm of semantic communication beyond the traditional Shannon paradigm, sharing her team's achievements in using model-data collaborative driven semantic coding and transmission schemes to address these challenges, and offering insights into future research directions. Prof. Li Chen re-emphasized the key role of algebraic methods in modern error-correcting code design. The report pointed out that although probability-based soft decoding is extremely successful in long codes, algebraic structure and minimum distance concepts are crucial in medium and short code scenarios requiring high reliability, low latency, and low power consumption.
唐小虎教授以《ZCZ Signal Design: from Theory to Applications》为主题,介绍了ZCZ信号的基本概念、核心设计方法,并重点阐述其在信道估计、多址接入通信、通感一体化等多个领域的实际应用;杨伟豪教授以《Characterization of Conditional Mutual Independence》为主题聚焦于离散随机变量条件互独立性的严格理论刻画,属于概率论与信息论的基础理论研究。梁应敞教授以《Symbiotic Radios for Future Wireless Networks》为主题,重点讨论SR的信息论基础,如容量域和协作调制设计,并展示其在环境物联网等场景中的应用潜力;陶梅霞教授以《Towards Compatible, Explainable, and Adaptable Semantic Communications》为主题关注超越传统香农范式的语义通信新范式,分享团队利用模型与数据协同驱动的语义编码与传输方案来应对这些挑战的成果,并对未来研究方向提出见解;陈立教授以《Algebra Remains a Cradle for Improving Codes》为主题,重新强调代数方法在现代纠错码设计中的关键作用。汇报指出,虽然基于概率的软译码在长码中极其成功,但在要求高可靠、低时延、低功耗的中短码场景下,代数结构与最小距离等经典概念至关重要。
Round Table Forum
To enrich the academic exchange activities of the conference, a round table forum was specially arranged, chaired by Prof. Pingzhi Fan (IEEE / IET / CIE / CIC Fellow) from Southwest Jiaotong University. The forum members included Prof. Xiao Ma from Sun Yat-sen University, Prof. Pingyi Fan from Tsinghua University, Prof. Baoming Bai from Xidian University, Prof. Zhaoyang Zhang from Zhejiang University, and Prof. Wen Chen from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The forum focused on "6G High-Mobility Wireless Communications and Information-Theoretic Fundamental Issues," aiming to promote in-depth discussion and innovative thinking collisions in this field.
为丰富大会的学术交流活动,大会特别设置了圆桌论坛,由西南交通大学范平志教授(IEEE / IET / CIE / CIC Fellow)担任论坛主席。论坛成员包括中山大学马啸教授、清华大学樊平毅教授、西安电子科技大学白宝明教授、浙江大学张朝阳教授以及上海交通大学陈文教授。此次论坛将聚焦于“6G高移动无线通信与信息论基础问题”,旨在推动该领域的深入讨论与创新思维碰撞。

Youth Forum
This three-day conference, in addition to five keynote speeches and the round table forum, also featured an Outstanding Young Scholars Forum. Many national-level young talents were invited to give presentations, including Prof. Zhicheng Dong from Tibet University, Researcher Jingwei Li from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Prof. Xuan Guang from Nankai University, Prof. Sihuang Hu from Shandong University, Researcher Ling Song from Jinan University, Prof. Chengjue Li from East China Normal University, Associate Prof. Chen Yuan from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Researcher Liming Ma from University of Science and Technology of China, and Prof. Jingjing Cui from Southwest Jiaotong University. At the same time, the Next Generation Networks and Quantum Communication Technology Forum, and the Intelligent Systems and Wireless Communication Frontier Technology Forum were also held.
本次会议为期三天,除了五场主旨报告和圆桌论坛外,还设置了优秀青年学者论坛,邀请到多位国家级青年人才与会报告,包括西藏大学的董志诚教授、电子科技大学的李经纬研究员、南开大学的光炫教授、山东大学的胡思煌教授、暨南大学的宋凌研究员、华东师范大学的李成举教授、上海交通大学的袁晨副教授、中国科学技术大学的马立明研究员以及西南交通大学的崔静静教授。同时,下一代网络与量子通信技术论坛、智能系统与无线通信前沿技术论坛同步开展。

Oral Presentations and Poster Sessions
In addition to the keynote speeches, ICCBN also organized a number of offline oral sessions, poster displays, and several online sessions, with rich academic exchange activities carried out simultaneously. The conference topics covered "Frontier 5G and Emerging 6G Technologies," "Evolution and Innovation of Broadband Network Architecture," "Internet of Things (IoT) and Intelligent Interconnection Technologies," "Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Communications," "Challenges of Data Privacy and Network Security," and "Commercialization and Implementation of Emerging Communication Technologies," fully demonstrating the great potential of integrated innovation in communications technology.
除主旨报告外,ICCBN还组织了多场线下口头分会、海报展示以及多个线上分会等丰富的学术交流活动。会议议题涵盖了“前沿的5G与新兴6G技术”、“宽带网络架构的演进与创新”、“物联网(IoT)与智能互联技术”、“人工智能在通信领域的应用”、“数据隐私与网络安全的挑战”以及“新兴通信技术的商业化与实施”等多个热点方向,充分展示了通信技术融合创新的巨大潜力。


The successful convening of ICCBN 2025 provided a vibrant platform for international academic exchange and technical cooperation for experts and scholars in the field of communications and broadband networking, promoted the collision of global academic ideas, and pushed forward technological breakthroughs and development. This conference not only provided opportunities for future joint research and cross-domain cooperation, but also laid a solid foundation for industry innovation and technological progress.
